If your child will need to take any medications at school this year please make sure to bring them in the original prescription bottles. A new medication permission form will need to be filled out for any medication. Children are not permitted to carry medication including cough drops. Cough drops and over-the-counter creams are considered medication! Students CANNOT carry medications to school.
Please remember to bring in student inhalers or other respiratory medications that your child may need as soon as possible to prevent any emergencies. The colder months can trigger asthma related episodes, which makes it extremely important to make sure we have the student's mediation available. Also, remember to bring in an updated emergency action plan for any emergency medications. Back to school also means those pesky germs will start to circulate again. Once again, some basic tips to help prevent the spread of illness are: frequent hand washing, making sure to cover our mouths when sneezing or coughing, frequently sanitizing desks, door knobs, and other frequently touched surfaces, and staying home from school or work if you are sick. There are no "stock medications" in the office such as Tylenol, Motrin, Tums, etc. Medications can only be sent for the student by the parent or guardian. Any and all medication need to be in original containers and properly labeled. All forms can be found on the Anna McDonald site. Look under health forms and then Information tab. http://manhattan114.org/index.php/anna-mcdonald-school/immunization-compliance-information/ Parents please make sure your child has a healthy breakfast before the start of school. I am seeing many students not feeling good that have NOT eaten any breakfast. If you have any questions please contact the school nurse at: 815-531-3107 Parents please please make sure your child has a healthy breakfast before the start of school. Dear Parent/Guardian, This is a reminder to pick up medication that is in the nurse’s office that belongs to your child. School policy prohibits your child from carrying the medication products, other than inhalers home with them. A parent/guardian will be required to pick them up. The school will be open for a couple weeks after the last day of school. I recommend you call ahead prior to making the trip out if you can’t make it here by Tuesday, June 6, 2017. Thank you so much for your cooperation and understanding. Any questions please feel free to contact the school nurse. Please remember if you think your child will be needing any medication at school the Medication authorization form needs to be filled out by parent and physician and returned to school. This includes cough drops, Tylenol, Motrin etc. Please remember this is a district policy! Any medication is to be brought in to the nurse's office and picked up by a parent.
Medication Authorization Form can be found on website: manhattan114.org/index.php/anna-mcdonald-school/ under health forms. Did you know that 40 kids are diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D) each day in the United States alone? That's like a whole classroom of kids! Can you imagine?
But that's why our school is hosting a JDRF Kids Walk to Cure Diabetes on 11/11/2016—so that we can help our community and the kids and families that are affected by T1D. We want to make a difference! Want to help us? It's really not hard at all! If you're a student, parent, teacher, or school staff member, you can walk with us - it's so much fun! Just click on the "Join the Kids Walk" button to register for the Walk. You'll get your own personal fundraising page and access to a lot of great fundraising tools! And did we mention how much fun Kids Walk is? www2.jdrf.org/goto/annamcdonald If you're a friend, family member, co-worker, or neighbor, you can help, too! You can support one of our walkers by making a donation (he or she will be so excited!). The money that we raise will help fund T1D research and create a world without T1D. Donations can be sent to: Anna McDonald School 200 second st manhattan, illinois 60442 Please make checks payable to JDRF. A few things to remember: 1. The Kids Walk will be held on 11/11/2016. 2.
